Inside AP

2002

One of my earliest meetings at the AP in 2000 was regarding an internal Web portal. After $250,000 in consulting, with nothing except stacks and stacks of paper to show for it, they were ready to scrap the project. I asked for a week, then delivered a prototype which grew directly into the company's first Intranet. I wrote the complete Web app -- several, actually -- after learning VBScript and ASP, and launched within a year of the first meeting, which would have otherwise killed the project.
